Radio Astronomy: A Revision of Chapter 22, Handbook of Geophysics and Space Environments

چکیده
This survey is a summary of available information on radiation environments at radio frequencies (about 10 m to 1 cm wavelength); the Moon, the Planets, and space beyond the solar system are described. The topics presented are refraction and absorption of extraterrestrial radio waves by the Earth's atmosphere, radio and radar observations of the Mo^n and Planets, radio emission from the celestial sphere (background radiation), discrete sources of continuum radio emission, and spectral-line radiation from neutral atomic hydrogen and from the hydroxyl radical (OH).

FIRST Bent-Double Radio Sources: Tracers of High-Redshift Clusters
Bent-double radio sources can act as tracers for clusters of galaxies. We present imaging and spectroscopic observations of the environments surrounding ten of these sources (most of them Wide Angle Tails (WATs)) selected from the VLA FIRST survey. Our results reveal a previously unknown cluster associated with eight of the radio sources with redshifts in the range 0.33 < z < 0.85; furthermore,...

متن کاملOn the Relation Between the Large-Scale Tropospheric Circulation and Air Quality in Tehran
The large-scale tropospheric circulation can play a controlling role in the accumulation and ventilation of air pollutants. It thus impacts air quality in large urban areas. This paper investigates the statistical relations between the dynamical indices related to circulation in the troposphere and visibility as a surrogate for air pollution in the urban area of Tehran for the climatological pe...

With the rapid growth of indoor wireless communication systems, the need to accurately model radio wave propagation inside the building environments has increased. Many site-specific methods have been proposed for modeling indoor radio channels. Among these methods, the ray tracing algorithm and the finite-difference time domain (FDTD) method are the most popular ones. The ray tracing approach ...
متن کاملApplication of Single-Frequency Time-Space Filtering Technique for Seismic Ground Roll and Random Noise Attenuation
Time-frequency filtering is an acceptable technique for attenuating noise in 2-D (time-space) and 3-D (time-space-space) reflection seismic data. The common approach for this purpose is transforming each seismic signal from 1-D time domain to a 2-D time-frequency domain and then denoising the signal by a designed filter and finally transforming back the filtered signal to original time domain. ...
